Jivananda
Promises Stress-Free Childhood!
April 4, 2009
The boon that is Jivananda
has finally reached the students at Jiva Public
School. The Ayurvedic lifestyle regimen that has
helped thousands of office-executives, scientists,
police-officers, judges and people in general from
all over the world is now available for the Jiva
students with a master trainer—Bart Staub from the
U.S. who himself has been personally trained by the
Jivananda proponent Dr. Partap Chauhan.
Jivananda focuses on cleansing the body,
senses and the mind, so that we can realise the fact
that we are souls (Jiva) and can attain bliss
(Ananda). It helps people in the busy life of
today to lead a natural life and conduct themselves
effortlessly through the maze of life’s variables
and constants.

Children practice the
six basic movements of the spine.
The beauty of this programme lies
in the fact that it encompasses all the benefits
from the traditional Indian wisdom in the form of
Yoga, laughter therapy, meditation and stretching
exercises and can be followed by one and all,
without having to take a chunk of time out of their
busy life schedule.
Following is an illustration of a typical
Jivananda class conducted by Mr. Staub inside
the Jiva premises.
Students from different classes congregate
immediately after the morning assembly on the
playground. Mr. Staub explains to the children about
the four pillars of the human being—mind, body,
senses and the soul and how the Jivananda
regimen works on all fronts to give them a healthy
mind and body, deeply grounded in self-discipline
and spirituality.
He demonstrates to them the six basic movements of
the spine and teaches them a few easy-to-do
stretching exercises that work out the major joints
of the body. Next on the line, is teaching them to
take deep diaphragmatic breaths and do
Laughter-Yoga. All the activities culminate with
Shavasana (the Yogic Sleep) that relaxes and
revitalises the body and mind.
One of the most important aspects of the
Jivananda exercises is the Jivananda
Meditation which soothes and energises the body,
mind, senses and the soul for the whole day. It is
also a superb tool to increase memory and
concentration. It involves bringing the children’s
awareness into their heart area and visualising a
tiny drop of Love in the heart that spreads in all
directions. The meditation ends with the children
tracing the outward and then the inward journey of
the drop of Love from the heart out into the
surrounding and back.
Practicing Jivananda is easy and it requires
no equipments, no sophisticated facilities and
suffices with a very low space. The many advantages
of the Jivananda regimen include increasing
Ojas (vital energy), fighting stress and
providing peace of mind. If you are interested to
