Jiva Reconfirms its Commitment on its 17th Birthday
Sublime majesty, soulful entertainment and moving
emotions minus the pomp and show usually associated
with such an event marked the 17th Jiva Foundation
Day function held in the premises of the Jiva Public
School on February 6, 2009.
Inaugurating the event, Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa,
Director, Jiva Culture by lighting the traditional
lamp in presence of an august gathering, urged the
students to be mindful and inquisitive at every step
in their deeds and actions. “In order to attain
supreme happiness and success we must first awaken
ourselves from the deep slumber of ignorance”, he
concluded.
The function that saw the presence of all the four
Jiva founders—Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa, Mr. Rishi Pal
Chauhan, Mr. Steven Rudolph and Dr. Partap
Chauhan—was attended by dignitaries and foreign
guests that included Mr. Bart Staub from the U.S.A.
and several visitors from Poland. Besides this, the
students and teachers of Jiva Public School and the
staff members from the Jiva Institute, Jiva
Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Jiva Clinic and Panchkarma
Centre and Jiva Vrindavan made up the volume of
audience.
Commending the grit, dedication and hard work of all
the members of the Jiva family, Mr. Steven Rudolph
Director, Jiva Education, described how a small
organisation with big ideas that started on a very
small scale 17 years back took the current shape
brick by brick. “We haven’t arrived yet;” he said, “Hamare
Liye Safar Hi Manzil Hain (for us journey is the
only destination)” which was received with a
thunderous applause.
The students enthralled the audience with the
presentation of several cultural items that included
a melodrama, a short play and a dance performance
that highlighted on the efforts at reviving the lost
tradition of India to solve modern problems and the
achievements of Jiva in putting forward this mission
throughout the years since its inception. They also
impressed the visitors by an exhibition of items
displaying the various important milestones of Jiva
over the years.
For the uninitiated, Jiva is a group of
organisations dedicated to life wellness with
interest in the areas of education, health and
culture with a goal to revive traditional Indian
wisdom and make it accessible to people in this era
through relevant programmes, products and services.
It has operations in the US and other European,
African and Asian countries, besides India. Jiva has
many firsts to its credit in the application of
technology to the fields of Ayurveda and education.
The company, which started its operations in 1992,
created world’s first online Ayurvedic clinic,
www.ayurvedic.org (which was eventually merged with
www.jiva.com). Jiva is first to launch Ayurvedic
telemedicine programme named, Teledoc in
2003, which won it the UN
World Summit Award in Geneva for innovation in
e-health. Jiva also partnered with Media Lab Asia
(collaboration of Government of India with
Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to undertake
a community project for rural India called
Baatchit in 2001-2003.
The event came to a conclusion with a commendation
ceremony where Mr. Rishi Pal Chauhan, President,
Jiva Institute honoured all the staff members who
have completed 10 and 5 years of dedicated service
at Jiva with an appreciation certificate and a
silver coin that stirred their deeply felt emotions
and attachments with the organisation.
