Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation, also called early ejaculation, is one of the most common and stressful sexual problems found among men. In such condition, men ejaculate before they want to. It can also be defined as an inability to delay or hold off ejaculation to a point when it is mutually desirable for both partners. It could occur due to several reasons, such as being very excited, anxiety about sex, fear, or even alcohol or drug use. Sometimes excessive stress, mental disturbance, and severe depression could also lead to this problem.
The Ayurvedic View
According to Ayurvedic perspective, premature ejaculation is caused by aggravation of Vata and pitta dosha at the commencement of physical mating. Vata is an Ayurverdic humour, which symbolises air /wind or something that moves, and is responsible for all movements of the body and the mind. It controls activities of the nervous system in the body. Pitta is an Ayurvedic humour, which symbolises heat or fire.
The vata and pitta doshas can be aggravated by anxiety and nervousness before sexual act. Pitta dosha (or increased heat) makes semen thin supporting its early ejaculation. Secondly, these aggravated doshas cause hyperactivity of muscles in the male organ thus increasing sensitivity to vibration and hence early ejaculation.
In simple words, these imbalanced doshas reduce time for sexual play. That is why Ayurveda recommends longer foreplay before making love in order to fully arouse your partner. It is important to keep the vata in a balance by deep breathing. One should make sure the keep cool by not eating pitta aggravating foods. There are very potent herbs like Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Kapikacchu, Musali which are useful to prevent premature ejaculation.
