Poliomyelitis
Poliomyelitis is an acute viral infection affecting various parts of the central nervous system and generally affects children under the age of five. Symptoms may first appear as gastro-intestinal and respiratory disturbances with fever and become more aggravated between the second and fifth day with paralysis of the lower limbs.
