Pyorrhoea
Pyorrhoea is characterized by copius discharge of pus from the roots of the teeth and gums. The pus is often swallowed along with food and is absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract causing further diseases. Poor oral hygiene is the main cause in addition to indigestion and hyperacidity. This is treated as a certain body energy disorder in Ayurvedic terms, caused by poor digestion. Toxins are produced by undigested food, causing infection of the blood and disease in sites where they have accumulated.
Ayurvedic treatment consists of both internal and external medication. Digestion is restored with herbal treatments, which ensure the proper daily elimination of toxins. Cleansing herbs for the blood are administered and tooth powders recommended to eliminate pus formation and bleeding.
